Carl Gustaf Plagemann was born on April 2 1805 in Sweden and died on February 2 1868 in Rome. He was a Swedish painter. After a period of study for the Westin, he became a student at the Academy of the Fine Arts in 1827 where he was soon promoted to the model school and received numerous awards. In the latter years he travelled to Italy in the company of the British Legation Secretary, Charles Manners Saint George who commissioned him to do a painting of the “Adoration Of The Shepherds” which adorns the walls of St George’s Heritage and Visitor Centre.
